Mothers Day Vase Workshop 3hrs - Saturday 10th May 1.30pm-4.30pm
Grab your mum, your daughter, your sons or any mother figure or special person in your life.
This workshop is perfect for beginners and even those with some clay experience as I will guide you through the simple but effective methods of hand-building like they did in ancient times using natural Australian clay.
In this class, you'll learn how to:
Roll and cut a slab of clay
Roll coils and use coils to build your vase wall
Create and attach design features (eg. handles and embellishments) or add surface texture to bring more character to your piece.
What is provided in this workshop:
Small group of maximum 10 people with Guided instruction by Melanie Hardy with almost 30 years experience.
All tools, aprons and materials to create your vase
Enough clay to create a small-medium sized vase approx 15cm - 20cm tall.
Afternoon Tea provided by local cafe Happy Days (Cake, biscuits, tea and coffee)
White Milky Satin Glaze applied after the class to ensure your vase is watertight and fully functional. You can decide how you would like this applied eg. inside and outside or just outside or just have it dipped half.
Two kiln firings at mid-fire temperatures of 1220 to fully vitrify your piece
You will have an additional half hour at the end of the class should anyone need to work a bit longer on their vase or need some added help to finish it off.
Once your vase has been created it will dry slowly over 2 weeks in my studio before I glaze it and kiln fire it for you. Collection will be approx 4 weeks after the class from my studio. If you require postage this can be arranged at an additional cost.
What to bring:
No expectations, just your enthusiasm and willingness to let go
